Big Dog Coffee Shop- Oelwein High School

Students in Mrs. Tournier's class has started a coffee shop at Oelwein High School. Their journey is embedded in the local community and began by researching costs of items, food preparation guidelines, budgeting, and practicing customer service skills. Big Dogs Coffee Shop

A student run coffee shop will be developed, run, and maintained by special education students. This project will bring the students into the community to work on life skills such as budgeting and banking. They will learn how to handle money, make change, understand the cost of materials and profit margins. Students will also learn about food safety and customer service skills.
